ASU Innovations team, MDM present at international conference

Two ASU Innovations students from Multimarker Diabetes Monitoring (MDM) presented their research at an international conference, the 2nd World Congress on Diabetes, hosted in Philly on Dec 6th. Teagan Adamson is the senior BME, team leader, and Zach Decke is junior BME, presented their work, on the development of the next generation electrochemical diabetes monitoring test strip and meter. Their team also includes: Diane Wu, sophomore EE, Chris McBride, senior CSE, Anabel Murillo, senior BME, and Francis Eusebio, freshman BME By using a technique of frequency mixing, multiple markers can be monitored simultaneously on a single test strip. Only a single finger prick is needed. The multiple Amitriptyline markers studied allow for daily monitoring of glucose, insulin, HbA1c, among other markers. With this increased monitoring, better management and hopefully prevention of the associated health care concerns such as cardiovascular trouble or amputation can be prevented. The team is working with an endocrinologist from Mayo AZ.
