New summer learning opportunities arise for teens in ASU engineering labs

Due to the success of last summer’s High School Engineering Research Program, it will now offer students the opportunity to participate in half-day and full day lab sessions over either four-week or eight-week times periods. The program, which gave over 70 teenagers the opportunity to learn under faculty members from Ira Fulton Schools of Engineering last summer, is free to all students meeting basic qualifications. Assistant professor Jeffrey La Belle works with high school students on to help detect cardiovascular disease and infectious disease by using fabrication technologies for electrochemical sensors.

“We want students to understand why they are in school and why they are taking all those hard classes. We want to

show them that even though they are only in high school or in their first years of college, they can learn enough to do things that propecia really help people,” says assistant research professor Jeffrey La Belle.

The High School Engineering Research Program includes closing ceremonies where students present their research to the other participants, parents and faculty members.
